  • Speeding diagnosis and delivering treatment without surgery at St. Anthony North Health Campus.

Many medical conditions that required surgery in the past can now be diagnosed and treated with minimally invasive procedures, thanks to interventional radiology at St. Anthony North Health Campus.

This medical specialty enables highly skilled, board-certified physicians—interventional radiologists—to access every organ system using the body’s natural pathways—its arteries and veins. Advanced imaging techniques—such as CT scans, MRI, ultrasound and fluoroscopy (real-time X-rays)—are used to guide catheters equipped with miniaturized cameras, surgical instruments and more. Once in place, medications can be delivered, blockages opened, tumors destroyed, infections diagnosed, aneurysms repaired and more. Because these procedures require only very small incisions, the patient’s experience is greatly improved. For most individuals, recovery time is faster, pain is lessened and hospital stays are shorter in comparison to open surgery.

Interventional radiology is helping diagnose and treat cancer, heart disease, stroke, spine care, gynecologic conditions, urologic conditions and more. Please remember: this information does not replace medical advice. You should talk with your physician about your specific condition and appropriate care.

St. Anthony North Health Campus is staffed by highly qualified board-certified interventional radiologists. These specialists work closely with cardiologists, oncologists, urologists, gynecologists, pulmonologists, neurologists and other specialists in providing the precise care each individual needs.
